Iggy is a 10 pound, 7 1/2 year old Yorkie. He was raised, from 8 weeks old, as the only child of very young, very busy parents, who said they just couldn’t spend much time with him. Now they are building a new house and don’t feel they are giving him any quality time at all, so they surrendered him. The transition to foster care has been rough on him. He just doesn’t understand what happened. He’s been a little withdrawn, but is learning to trust his foster mom. Though he’s not really a snuggle bunny, and doesn’t really want to be held, at this point he’s offering up kisses, occasionally and will even play with her a little. Watching him learn to reach out is wonderful. He has a little separation anxiety but nothing extreme, he just wants to have you in his sight all the time and isn’t demanding but likes to lie close by. He is house, as well as crate trained and knows several commands. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations as well as flea, tick and heart worm prevention.
He would do best in a family where he is the only furbaby and there is lots of love and attention. He tolerates other dogs and isn't aggressive in any way, but he doesn't want to play with them and doesn't appreciate attempts to make him play. He definitely prefers his people. Due to his shyness, dealing with active, energetic children who don’t move slowly would be a challenge for him and he might withdraw more. He would be a wonderful companion for a retired person or couple.
His adoption fee is $200. We are an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) group, so all funds go right back into the care of these and future wonderful pups.
